About Covelo Son Grown
Covelo Son Grown is a small-scale, legacy cannabis farm rooted in the heart of Covelo, California. Run by a second-generation cultivator with deep ties to the Covelo community, our farm carries over 45 years of cultivation experience, spanning diverse micro-climates and political eras.
Our Legacy
Born from outlaw, guerilla-style cultivation methods, our journey began with a passion for cannabis and a commitment to quality. Early on, we embraced opportunities for regulation, becoming one of the first farms in Mendocino County to participate in the 9.31 program. Although this initiative was short-lived, we adapted, operating under the informal "zip tie program" within the legal gray area of Proposition 215, California’s Medical Marijuana Act.
As legalization evolved, we recognized that small-scale, high-elevation grows (@2,500’) would face challenges under emerging regulations. In response, we transitioned to the valley floor around 1,400’, moving to agricultural-zoned property in Round Valley—a region serviced by the small town of Covelo.
Adapting to Change
For over a decade, we have cultivated on the valley floor, embracing the dramatic shifts in growing techniques required for this transition. This move has allowed us to adapt while continuing to honor the traditions of full-term plants and locally sourced genetics.
Our approach prioritizes building soil health and biodiversity, equipping us to face the challenges of legalization and modern cannabis farming. Though the journey has been far from easy, we take pride in our resilience and our commitment to staying true to our roots.
Our Vision
At Covelo Son Grown, we aim to become a trusted staple for discerning consumers who value tradition, sustainability, and quality. While we are continually evolving, our dedication to the land, our craft, and our community remains unwavering.
We look forward to growing alongside the cannabis industry, staying true to the legacy that has guided us for generations.
