Mono County is known for its diverse geography and extreme geology. It is home to many landmarks and natural features, including Mammoth Lakes, Mono Lake, and the Mono Basin National Scenic Area. The county is on the ancestral lands of the Mono people, an indigenous group who have lived in the area for thousands of years.

Commercial cannabis is legal in Mono County, although it's extreme climate, small population, and isolation only supports a tiny industry with a handful of cultivators and retailers.
