Unfortunately, the government of Shasta County has prohibited all forms of commercial cannabis within the unincorporated areas of the county. Some towns within Shasta County have allowed limited commercial cannabis within their incorporated areas, leading to a small local industry.

With a history dating back to the Gold Rush era, Shasta County was a prominent destination for gold prospectors during the 19th century. The county was founded in 1850 as one of he original 27 counties of California. The area is rich in Native American history, sitting on the colonized lands of the Wintun and Pit River tribes. As of September 2021, Shasta County had a population of approximately 180,000 residents. The largest city in the county is Redding, known for it's picturesque Sundial Bridge, and home to around 95,000 people. The Sacramento River flows through the county, offering opportunities for outdoor activities such as fishing, kayaking, and hiking. Shasta Lake, one of California's largest reservoirs, is a prominent geographical feature, known for its recreational amenities and breathtaking scenery.
